May 2025 - "Military Budget" is a sharp, satirical cartoon by Vinay Jalla that exposes the ego-fuelled arms race among global superpowers. Featuring nuclear warheads personified as towering symbols of male leaders of the US, China, Russia, Germany, and India. The work highlights the performative bravado that often surrounds defence budgets. 

With the US declaring, "Mine’s bigger than yours," the cartoon gently critiques the symbolism and ego at play in international power dynamics, raising questions about priorities in an increasingly fragile world. 

April 2025 - Vinay Jalla’s cartoon, Trade Wars, offers a sharp and satirical take on the global economic turmoil triggered by Trump's tariff policies. The illustration presents tariffs as a double-edged sword, wielded recklessly, cutting both ways and harming not just the intended targets but also those imposing them.

Countries retaliate with reciprocal tariffs, creating a chaotic spiral of economic uncertainty and instability. The imagery captures the absurdity of protectionist policies that claim to strengthen economies but, in reality, disrupt global trade, strain relations, and leave businesses and consumers caught in the crossfire.

With bold lines and biting humour, Trade Wars reflects the unpredictability of modern geopolitics where no one truly wins, and economic volatility becomes the only certainty.

March 2025 - Vinay Jalla’s cartoon, "Happiness is You," is a thought-provoking illustration that challenges the notion that material wealth (cars, money, and skyscrapers) defines happiness. Instead, it portrays a content individual radiating joy from within, emphasising that true happiness comes from self-fulfillment rather than external possessions.
